Storyteller Objet began with one crocheted flower stitched onto a plain market bag — and a friend asking where she could buy one.
How it started
One flower, one market bag
We wanted a bag that made us smile on the way to the shops and still held a laptop, a water bottle and a punnet of strawberries without complaining.
So we kept the mesh — light, breathable, easy to wipe clean — and put the joy in the details: hand-crocheted trims, soft cotton handles and little charms you can spot from across a café.
Everything is made in small batches, which keeps the colours playful and the quality something we can actually check ourselves.
How they're made
Four steps, every single bag
Choosing the mesh
We start with an open cotton mesh — airy, light and quick to dry, so a wet swimsuit or a leaky peach never ruins your day.
Crocheting the trim
Every edge is crocheted by hand in bright cotton yarn. The colour pairings are picked one bag at a time, which is why no two are perfectly identical.
Adding the charms
Flowers, bananas, spirals and Love patches are made separately, then stitched on so they stay put through a full summer of wear.
The grocery test
Before a design goes live it carries a real week of groceries, a laptop and a water bottle. If the handles stretch, it goes back to the table.

The mesh body is cotton-blend and machine-strong: it stretches to fit an extra loaf, then springs back. A damp cloth is all the cleaning it needs.
Trims, handles and charms are crocheted in colourfast cotton yarn, so the cherry reds and cobalt blues stay bright through a whole summer.
